The graduation of the ‘‘Observador Social Mirim 2022’’ took place on January 9th, at CTG Sentinela da Querência. The program is an initiative of the Social Observatory of Brazil-Erechim, with the support of the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul, the Municipal Department of Education of Erechim (RS), the 15th Regional Education Coordination and sponsorships from the Chamex Institute, Cavaletti S/A and Sicredi. At the graduation ceremony, in addition to students, families, teachers and the school community, the following were present: Chirley Rigon (president of the Erechim Social Observatory); Verenice Lipsch (Municipal Secretary of Education); Juliane Bonez (coordinator of the 15th State Education Coordination); André Jucoski (councilman of Erechim); Mário Cavaletti (director of the Cavaletti company); Adelar Parmeggiani (president of Sicredi UniEstados); Gelso Miola (President of Sindilojas).

Aimed at students in the 5th and 6th year of Elementary School, the project guarantees pedagogical support and educational supplementation with a focus on fiscal education and valuing full citizenship, good practices and social control. The program addresses topics such as the exercise of citizenship at each stage of life, the development of personality linked to good social practices, the appreciation of rights, duties and social control, and awareness of individual and collective tax responsibilities. In 2022, the central themes proposed were ‘‘The social importance of taxes’’ and ‘‘The right and duty to exercise full citizenship’’.

In a speech, the president of the Observatório Social do Brasil-Erechim, Chirley Rigon, recalled the essential principles of the Observador Social Mirim: ‘‘Towards society, to seek to exercise your full citizenship, at each stage of your life; and towards others, improving citizenship, taking an interest in everything that concerns your community, through the conscious exercise of your rights and duties. Without the students and the partnership with schools, this project would not exist’’, highlighted Rigon. Following the precept ‘‘respect, discipline and cooperation’’, the graduates received their certificates of Junior Social Observers, with the presence of the mascot Lupinha, during the ceremony. In this 2022 Edition, more than 360 students graduated from the following schools:👇

• Joaquim Pedro Salgado Filho State School;
• Sete de Setembro State School;
• José Vicente da Maia State School;
• Roque Gonzales State Elementary School;
• Caras Pintadas Municipal Elementary School;
• Haidée Tedesco Reali State College;
• Colégio Marista Medianeira (private school);
• Miguel Wadrich State Elementary School, in Barão de Cotegipe.

The impacts of the project are divided into three pillars: 01) Parents made aware of their role as citizens, knowing the importance of collecting taxes and monitoring the resources collected. 02) Students made aware of their role as citizens, knowing the importance of collecting taxes and monitoring the resources collected. 03) Team engaged in the multiplication of knowledge, with educators who are more confident and prepared to intervene and guide students and their respective families.

The Social Observatory of Brazil-Erechim was selected by the Chamex Institute to be part of the five projects benefiting from the Education with Citizenship Notice, in partnership with the Institute for the Development of Social Investment (IDIS), in 2022.
