One of the main changes is the postponement of the digital version to November 22 and 29, as previously announced. Application of the written exam remains for November 1st and 8th as planned. The changes were published in the Federal Official Gazette – in the edition of April 22nd. The official notices published the new rules for requests of enrollment tax exemption for the exam, which were provided on the websites from INEP and the Ministry of Education (MEC). All participants meeting the criteria specified in the official notices will be contemplated with enrollment tax exemption, without requiring a formal request by the enrolled. The rule applies both for participants who opted for the written ENEM exam as for those who chose the digital form and applies also to those who, in 2019, failed to show up in the two days of the exams and did not explain their absence. Therefore, during enrollment for ENEM 2020, exemption from the enrollment tax will be assured, ex-officio, for the participant who:
  • Is presently studying in the last year of Middle School in 2020, whatever the education modality, in a public network school as declared in the School Census;
  • Finished the entire Middle School in a public or in a private school with full scholarship and has a per capita income equal to or below 1 ½ minimum salaries, pursuant article 1st, single paragraph, items I and II, of Law #12.799, of April 10, 2013;
  • Declares being in a situation of social economical vulnerability, for being member of a low-income family, in terms of article 4th of Decree # 6.135, of June 26, 2007, and is enrolled in the Single Registrar for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico), which requires a maximum per capita family income of 1 ½ minimum salaries or monthly family income of up to three minimum salaries.

The structure of the digital exam will be the same as for the printed model. Enrollment for the two exam modalities should be made between May 11th and 22nd on the Page of the Participant or in the ENEM App. A participant opting to take the printed ENEM 2020 version cannot enroll in the digital version and vice-versa. After finishing the process, the applicant cannot change the chosen option.
